Breckenridge and the surrounding Summit County offer a myriad of options for adventure and breathtaking fun. Breckenridge ski resort now boasts more than 50 years (Established 1961) of skiing pleasure with fun and unique festivities year round. Additional Winter activities include skiing, boarding, cross country skiing, sledding at Carter Park, snowmobiling the Continental Divide, ice skating, dinner sleigh rides, dog sledding with Siberian huskies, and make sure you take a deep breath of the fresh air, although thinner due to Breckenridge’s town altitude at 9600 ft there is also an oxygen bar if needed.
There are just as many Summer activities to experience including: hiking a fourteener, both mountain and downhill biking, fishing, sailing, golfing a Jack Nicholas designed course, river rafting, horseback riding, camping, four-wheeling, the new Gold Runner Alpine Coaster and the always enjoyable Peak 8 Fun Park. Don’t forget to buy your fresh fruit and vegetables at the Sunday farmers market throughout summer and early fall. Numerous flower baskets along Main Street and wildflowers adorning mountain trails are an experience by themselves and should not be missed. You can tour an authentic gold mine and pan for gold, tour the largest the historic district in Colorado, take nature classes, enjoy art fairs, and listen to the National Repertory Orchestra. Of course there many Theatre and other cultural events presented year round.
Activities abound at the Breckenridge Recreation Center featuring a fitness center, swimming pool with a large spiral slide and a lazy river, a rock climbing wall, indoor and outdoor tennis, and various classes for the entire family. Although this is just a sampling of what Breckenridge has in store for you and your family or group…the rest is up for you to explore!
